Hello, I am Gordon, the owner of Virginia Cottage I spend a lot of my life in Greece, Virginia being my 'bolt hole' in England. Please do not be put off by my not usually being in the UK, we have everything organised for you! I have an excellent team of local tradespeople such as plumbers, electricians, TV riggers, locksmiths, etc - so if anything should go wrong the right people are on hand.
Cleaning is done by a highly professional local (Carnforth) firm called New Brooms. They are fully accredited and in particular are Covid 19 aware. There is also a (very part-time!) gardener who also does the window cleaning and other useful outside jobs, like cleaning out the gutters.
Please do not arrive at the cottage before 4pm (3pm Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb), and be sure to leave by 10am. This gives New Brooms the time they need to do a proper deep clean of the place.
Also if you simply want to tell me what a wonderful/terrible stay you have had and how everything was just right/totally disastrous and how you want to compliment/sue me, then my details are:
It is best to use e-mail to contact me. I will respond very quickly in an emergency!
e-mail: virginia@lakefell.com
But if you have a very urgent problem then please phone me on 0797 010 8778. This will connect to my Greek mobile but I have a nasty feeling that due to the AWFUL Brexit it will now cost you something like an extra 2 GPB to access a number in the EU. You may care to call me on my Greek mobile, the number is +30 694 050 2053
It is important to me that visitors realise the sort of place that they are coming to. This avoids disappointment. Virginia is basically my 'home', with my pictures, antique furniture, books, etc cluttering up the place and very much for your use and enjoyment. It is in complete contrast to the now normal 'stark' letting premeses that is designed to be as impersonal as possible.
Because of its age and 'quirkiness' you may find that you are sharing the place with an occasional spider and possibly a small family of woodlice - and are being plagued in the early morning by deer that nibble my plants in the garden - If you are able to shoo them away I would be most grateful!
I would encourage you to write about your experience. There is a Visitors Book, or you could send me an e-mail after you have left. In return I promise to put both positive and negative comments up on this site!
